Role Description:
· Coordinate and manage all new and existing tooling in the design and manufacturing processes with tooling vendors, ensuring compliance to specifications and standards.
· Interface with respective departments in the selection process of awarding plastic injection molds to appropriate vendors locally and globally. This includes sourcing and evaluation of all current, and new vendors for plastic injection molds.
· Develop, maintain and publish all standard forms and procedures including updating the Tooling Standards Manual to reflect new and/or improved processes.
· Assist with internal qualification trials on all new and existing molds.
· Control all part/tooling dimensional development from initial parts submission to PPAP, including layout submission, leading dimensional design review meetings and recommending dimensional tooling adjustments to our vendors.
· Provide tooling, program and tracking schedules and open issue matrixes to internal and external customers from tooling kick-off to production release.
· Lead investigations of problematic tools or processes with cross-functional departments.
· Create preventative maintenance work instructions as required.
· Initiate new technologies both internally and externally, aiding in creating improved lead times, reduced tools build costs, process development and control on all activities pertaining to plastic injection molds.
· Analyze existing processes for enhancement opportunities, develop ideas for improvement and perform cost analysis to determine viability.
· Assist with the design and development of automation processes and all documentation such as flow charts, PFMEA, manufacturing process charts and operational instruction drawings.
Requirements:
· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Preferred) from a recognized Canadian university or sufficient proof of the equivalency of such a degree OR a Mechanical Engineering Technology – Automotive Design diploma may be considered.
· Advanced working knowledge of GD&T,
· Experience with measurement methods.
· Knowledge of Solidworks, Catia and/or Cimatron and Microsoft Office
· Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in mold design and manufacturing processes of complex high precision plastic injection molds.
· Excellent project management, problem solving, and communication skills; both written and oral.
· Ability to develop and maintain business relationships with numerous external suppliers.
· Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally to support business related activities (Travel to suppliers, customer etc.)
· This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid Ontario issued driver’s license and passport. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid Ontario issued driver’s license and passport upon being hired.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $73,500.00-$86,250.00 per year
