Position Summary
RIC Electronics is seeking an organized and proactive Purchaser to support our growing manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for purchasing materials, maintaining inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring production has the materials required to meet customer delivery schedules.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Inventory, and the Supply Chain & Planning Manager to ensure materials are ordered accurately, delivered on time, and maintained within company inventory policies.
Responsibilities
- Create and issue purchase orders using the company's ERP system.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels for production materials and purchased components.
- Monitor supplier delivery dates and proactively follow up on late or outstanding orders.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Obtain quotations for new components and alternate sources when required.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and lead times within the ERP system.
- Coordinate material requirements with Production, Engineering, and Inventory teams.
- Assist in forecasting material requirements for production and customer orders.
- Work with Inventory to resolve shortages, discrepancies, and non-conforming materials.
- Ensure purchased materials meet required specifications and documentation requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing and inventory processes.
- Assist with supplier performance tracking and vendor relationship management.
- Participate in regular inventory counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Escalate supply risks, long lead-time concerns, and material shortages to management.
- Maintain organized purchasing documentation and supplier files.
- Perform other purchasing and supply chain duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to read Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings is considered an asset.
- Experience with electrical or industrial manufacturing is considered an asset.

Experience purchasing components such as:
- Electrical components
- Wire and cable
- Sheet metal and fabricated parts
- Custom magnetics and transformers
- Printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Batteries
- Hardware and industrial supplies

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
