Job Summary:
We are seeking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to assess, diagnose, and treats patients with respiratory and cardiovascular disorders, collaborating with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. They administer respiratory treatments, manage ventilators, and provide patient education. RRTs may also conduct diagnostic tests, analyze blood gases, and evaluate patient progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interviewing patients, conducting pulmonary function tests, and analyzing blood gas samples to diagnose breathing and lung disorders.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, including oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and other therapies.
- Administering medications, operating medical devices, and monitoring patient responses to treatments.
- Educating patients and their families on respiratory conditions, home care, and disease prevention.
- Responding to urgent calls for care, such as for patients experiencing respiratory distress or cardiac arrest.
- Monitoring vital signs, blood gases, and other physiological responses to therapy and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Active BC Respiratory Therapist credential in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum 18 months relevant experience for all BC Health Authorities; 24 months for FNHA assignments.
- Skills: Proficient in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, vent setting adjustments, intubation, arterial line insertion, and ABG analysis.
Job Title: Health Care Aide (HCA)
Rate: $39 per hour
Location: Various sites across British Columbia, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare settings.
