We are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. As Senior Accountant you will be responsible for hands on day-to-day review of processed accounts payables/receivables, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing/reviewing account reconciliations and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This role is well suited for an accounting professional with 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working towards the improvement of process and systems.
Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the controller, prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.

Assist the accounts payable team to process a large volume of transactions

Full cycle, month-end, and quarter-end reporting.

Aiding in the year-end closing activities.

Manage regulatory fillings such as GST, PST, WCB

Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis as required

Bank Reconciliations

Support inventory accounting and related reconciliations.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows and system efficiencies.

Complete ad hoc and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end closing activities.

Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet defined deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience in a retail environment is considered a strong asset.

Experience using ERP/accounting systems with Microsoft 365 Business Central, preferred.

Working towards a CPA designation would be an asset
