Job Overview
The Listuguj Mi'gmaq Government is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong accounting expertise and experience in finance transformation process and improvement initiatives. This role plays a key part in modernizing financial operations, improving reporting processes, and supporting organization-wide system and workflow enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP.
- Manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements across finance operations.
- Participate in or lead ERP system upgrades, automation initiatives, and digital finance projects.
- Develop and document new workflows, controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Analyze current financial processes and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Support changing management efforts and training related to new systems or processes.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions and transformation goals.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor KPI's and develop dashboards to track performance improvements.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma or project management certification is an asset.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in finance transformation or organization transformation, process improvement, or ERP implementation.
- Experience with financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and other data visualization tools.
- Strong project management and change management capabilities.
