We are currently seeking a dynamic and energetic Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at our Welland location
Qualification & Skills
Required Education:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Intramuscular injection certified (IM Certified)
- Phlebotomy and Vaccine administration certifications
- BLS and CPR certifications
Required Experience:
- At least 2 years.
- Triage experience in a clinical or primary care setting is required.
Required Skills:
- Excellent venipuncture skills
- Intramuscular injection skills (as supervised by a Physician)
- Conduct routine ECGs
- Effective communication skills
- Strong Computer skills including demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel
- Ability to type 30 wpm, 10-key by touch
- Must be effective at multitasking and problem solving
- Professionalism
- Reliable
- Knowledge of Avaros EMR is an asset
- Aptitude for mathematics and science and a keen interest in scientific work. Ability to do detailed work and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Enjoy taking a methodical approach to their work, analyzing results, establishing procedures and using computers and specialized instruments for accurate and precise testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oscar Pro experience preferred
- Collect and prepare patient samples for testing
- Vaccine Administration and vaccine maintenance
- Log and send patient samples to Public Health, Life Labs, or Dynacare
- Set up, clean, and maintain Medical Laboratory equipment
- Assist Physicians with various patient care services, such as pap tests, height, weight, and vision testing, suturing, etc.
- Communicate with patients, Physicians, hospitals, and other institutions to set appointments, make follow-up calls, etc.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, remain organized, responsible, punctual, and display consistently professional manners
- Examine urine samples
- Superior organizational skills
- Maintaining all medical supplies
- Proactively reordering of supplies
- Trains and orientates new Medical Laboratory Technologists in the performance and interpretation of tests.
Required Languages:
English (fluent speech, writing, listening, reading)
Availability: 9 AM – 7 PM
