Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is a leading road construction company delivering high-quality services across Alberta. We are currently seeking an Excavator Operator (Multi-Equipment) to join our Grande Prairie base crew.
Position Overview
This position is primarily for an Excavator Operator, with the expectation of supporting the crew by operating other equipment as required. You will play a key role in base construction—handling excavation, trenching, and material placement—while assisting with grading and site preparation when needed.
This role is ideal for an experienced operator who is confident on an excavator but versatile enough to jump on other equipment to support the team.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavator for trenching, ditching, and material placement
- Assist with operating other equipment such as skid steer, grader, mini hoe, and packer as needed
- Perform trenching and backfilling for utilities and drainage systems
- Support base preparation, fine grading, and site cleanup
- Safely move and place aggregates and materials
- Work with the crew to meet project timelines and quality standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient jobsite
Qualifications
- Strong experience operating excavators in road construction or similar work
- Ability and willingness to run additional equipment when required
- Solid understanding of safe work practices
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites
- Physically able to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs
- Commitment to safety—this is a safety-sensitive position (pre-employment drug screening required)
