Job Summary
Our client, an established manufacturer of custom industrial equipment, is seeking a licensed Industrial Electrician to join their growing team in Hamilton. Working closely with electrical, mechanical, and production teams, this role plays a key part in the assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial equipment and automated systems. The successful candidate will contribute to both shop-floor operations and customer-site support while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
The Role:

Install, route, and terminate electrical wiring, cables, conduits, junction boxes, and control components on industrial equipment.

Assemble, wire, and troubleshoot electrical control panels and enclosures according to schematics and specifications.

Interpret and work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.

Perform commissioning activities including I/O verification, startup support, testing, and troubleshooting.

Diagnose and repair electrical systems, machine controls, production equipment, and facility-related electrical components.

Install, bend, and secure EMT and rigid conduit systems in accordance with applicable standards.

Conduct electrical testing using AC/DC test equipment to verify system functionality and performance.

Support equipment installations and service work at customer locations as required.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and improve equipment reliability.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Document completed work, modifications, and testing results to support project records and quality standards.

Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.

Provide technical support and mentorship to apprentices or junior team members when required.
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Holds a valid Ontario Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) license.

Brings a minimum of five years of post-certification experience in an industrial manufacturing or equipment-building environment.

Demonstrates hands-on experience with machine wiring, industrial controls, and equipment troubleshooting.

Possesses strong knowledge of PLC, VFD, motor, and transformer wiring principles.

Has experience with control panel layout, assembly, wiring, and commissioning activities.

Understands industrial electrical standards, safe work practices, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Can confidently read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

Proficient in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.

Maintains strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Holds a valid Ontario driver's license and is comfortable traveling to customer sites as required.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Experience with PLC and HMI programming or troubleshooting.

Familiarity with AutoCAD or electrical drawing revisions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Previous experience supporting custom equipment builds, automation systems, or machinery commissioning.

Exposure to continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or process optimization initiatives.
