POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety, the Corporate Health and Safety Manager leads the execution of FMI’s health and safety programs across all business units. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement in health and safety practices while supporting the strategic direction of the HSE department. The Corporate Health and Safety Manager is both hands-on and collaborative, working closely with operational leaders and teams to promote a strong safety culture, maintain effective systems, and ensure safe and compliant operations across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement and enforce corporate HSE policies, procedures, and standards across project sites, shop, and office environments.
- Conduct regular field visits to assess safety performance, engage with frontline workers, and support site leadership in resolving safety concerns.
- Facilitate safety training programs to ensure workforce competency and regulatory compliance.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor and report on health and safety metrics, trends, and compliance status to the Director of Health and Safety.
- Support project teams in hazard identification, risk assessments, and development of site-specific safety plans.
- Coordinate internal audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Provide guidance to site safety personnel.
- Emergency preparedness planning and response coordination.
- Report directly to the Director of Health and Safety and support the execution of strategic safety initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of operational safety activities with the vision and corporate safety goals.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Director regarding field conditions, compliance issues, and emerging risks.
- Maintain accurate records and streamline communication across the department.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and/or NCSO Designation
- CRSP Designation or working towards, is considered an asset
- 5-7 years work experience in a safety leadership role; preference to candidates with experience in the industrial construction field with a focus on high voltage utilities, civil installations and/or similar field
- Proven ability to relate to field workers/supervisors, client representatives & corporate leaders
- Proven experience with MS Office and digital safety management systems
- Experience in developing and delivering competency-based instruction and coaching
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Advanced First Aid (OFA 3) certificate, considered an asset
Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
