Position Summary
Bursey Excavation and Development Limited is seeking an experienced Roll-Off Truck Driver to safely and efficiently operate roll-off trucks and related equipment. This role is responsible for the collection and transportation of solid waste, recyclables, and small construction equipment while maintaining compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks and related equipment, including vehicles with automatic and standard transmissions
- Transport solid waste, recyclables, and small construction equipment (e.g., skid steers, mini loaders, attachments) to designated disposal or delivery locations
- Complete daily routes, which may vary based on operational needs
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation, including daily truck reports and route sheets
- Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately to supervisors and maintenance personnel
- Operate vehicles and equipment using approved techniques to prevent mechanical damage
- Maintain a clean and professional vehicle, including interior and exterior cleanliness
- Supervise and assist assigned helpers, including providing training as required
- Comply with all federal, provincial, and local laws, regulations, and company safety policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Class 1 and Class 8 Driver’s Licences (required)
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience, including roll-off truck operation
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate roll-off trucks and associated equipment
- Clean driver’s abstract
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance requirements
- Ability to maneuver vehicles in confined or limited-clearance spaces
- Ability to recognize and report unacceptable or hazardous materials
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend work-related documentation and route information
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Physical ability to repetitively lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies
