Role Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who is passionate about working with neurodivergent children and their families. In this role, you will provide strength-based, family-centered assessment and therapy within an evidence-informed, interdisciplinary environment.
Because we prioritize integrating cutting-edge practices into our holistic health hub, the right candidate will receive a unique professional development opportunity: formal training on the AAPLES tool (Autism Assessment for Preschoolers with Language Element Sequence). Developed by leading researchers and clinicians at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and Holland Bloorview, AAPLES is a caregiver-administered, semi-structured, play-based virtual assessment using everyday household items to observe social reciprocity, play skills, behavior, and flexible phrase speech remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide neurodiversity-affirming speech, language, and communication evaluations and therapy for pediatric clients.
- Integrate emerging clinical research and evidence-based methodologies into diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
- Administer specialized developmental and diagnostic assessments, including training and utilization of the AAPLES tool for virtual autism evaluations.
- Partner closely with parents and caregivers using play-based, trauma-informed, and family-centered strategies.
- Collaborate daily with our multidisciplinary health hub team (OTs, mental health clinicians, medical specialists) to build holistic treatment plans.
- Support child-led communication goals, including AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and Gestalt Language Processing, where applicable.
- Offer assessments based on needs of the client.
Qualifications & Credentials
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Active registration and good standing with the relevant provincial/state licensing body and professional association.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in working with neurodivergent children (Autistic, ADHD, dynamic communication profiles).
- A commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, holistic care and staying up to date with emerging clinical evidence.
- Strong interest in diagnostic assessments and advancing skills in early autism evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-first, collaborative mindset.
