We are looking for a Financial Project Lead to join a long-term contract opportunity within the energy and natural resources sector in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role will guide complex accounting integration activities tied to financial reporting espcially in-depth consolidation work, policy alignment, and close readiness across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will partner with finance, reporting, and operational teams to strengthen reporting processes, support statutory obligations, and deliver practical analysis during a period of significant business change.
Responsibilities:
- Lead accounting assessments related to statutory reporting, opening balance impacts, interim close preparedness, management reporting updates, and faster month-end reporting cycles.
- Experience with financial consolidation using OneStream and/or Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) in an IFRS environment, including elimination entities, subsidiary-to-parent rollups, and entity consolidations.
- Evaluate accounting policy differences across entities and determine whether adjustments should be recorded through consolidation entries or reflected in local and statutory books.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex consolidation structures, including proportionate consolidations and intercompany eliminations
- Identify gaps in reporting data needed for management accounts and work with finance planning and systems stakeholders to implement required changes.
- Assist with practice closes and live stub-period reporting by preparing guidance, validating support files, confirming evidence requirements, and helping address audit requests.
- Contribute to the calculation, testing, and validation of alternative performance measures under updated definitions, including reporting system configuration review.
- Maintain issue logs, action plans, status updates, and documentation supporting close acceleration initiatives and the transition of selected journal activities to site or country finance teams.
- A detail-oriented accounting designation such as CPA, CA, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
- Strong technical accounting expertise in consolidation under IFRS, including leases, inventory, business combinations, consolidations, and external financial reporting.
- Experience working in complex, multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional environments with statutory or legal entity reporting responsibilities.
- Solid knowledge of month-end close, consolidation processes, management reporting, and financial statement preparation.
- Background supporting integration, implementation, or large-scale finance transformation initiatives within a public company environment is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with inventory analysis, lease accounting, and audit-ready documentation in large organizations.
- Familiarity with enterprise reporting and finance platforms such as SAP S/4HANA and consolidation tools is beneficial.
