About the Role
We are seeking Intermediate Technologists with proven field experience to independently support geotechnical, civil, and construction QA/QC projects. This role involves greater technical responsibility, decision-making in the field, and direct coordination with engineers, site supervisors, and clients.
Projects include mining, heavy civil, and municipal infrastructure work, offering diverse and challenging field environments.
This is a full-time, field-based position, with an June or July start date anticipated.
Location & Work Environment
- Primarily based in Fort McMurray
- 12-hour day/night shifts depending on project requirements
- Active work environments including open-pit mines and construction sites
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform soil and concrete QA/QC monitoring and testing
- Conduct detailed field inspections and verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards
- Monitor earthworks, concrete placement, and construction activities
- Identify and communicate non-conformances and field issues to engineers and project managers
- Coordinate with site personnel, contractors, and engineering staff
- Complete accurate, timely field reports and test documentation
- Operate vehicles and equipment safely in active mining and construction environments
- Support and mentor junior technologists as needed
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Compensation
$33.00 – $36.00 per hour + overtime, depending on experience and certifications
What We Look For
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, a degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 2–5 years of relevant field-based QA/QC or geotechnical experience
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to meet physical job demands and pass fitness-for-work testing
- Experience working in safety-sensitive environments with drug and alcohol testing
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and professional development
Additional Assets
- Experience in mining, heavy civil, or municipal construction projects
- Proficiency with off-road 4x4 driving and winter conditions
- Certifications: BSO/CSO, H2S, CCIL
- Active or eligible professional membership with ASET or APEGA
