We are a progressive, family-owned farming operation in Southwest Saskatchewan seeking an experienced and motivated Irrigation Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our modern 2,000 acre irrigation program. As our Irrigation Manager, you will be responsible for planning, operating, maintaining, and optimizing irrigation systems to support high-yield crop production while ensuring efficient water management and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of all irrigation systems.
- Develop and implement irrigation schedules based on crop requirements, weather conditions, and soil moisture data.
- Monitor irrigation performance and make adjustments to maximize water-use efficiency.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on irrigation pivots, pumps, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues as they arise.
- Coordinate seasonal startup and winterization of irrigation systems.
- Maintain accurate irrigation, maintenance, and water usage records.
- Work closely with Agronomy team to support crop production goals.
- Ensure safe work practices and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Assist with farm equipment operations as required during peak seasons.
- Perform maintenance and upkeep tasks around main farm yard as fill in work.
Qualifications
- Previous experience managing agricultural irrigation systems is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Experience operating and maintaining pumps, motors, pivots, and irrigation infrastructure.
- Knowledge of crop production and irrigation scheduling.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Agronomy or electrical experience would be an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence (Class 1A is considered an asset).
- Ability to work long hours as required in season.
