Legal tech startup, early team. Own UI/UX and the visual language—product surfaces, marketing, brand. Typography and identity matter here; we sweat the kerning. Video and motion a plus.
This is a design role pointed at where the work is going. Less time in Figma, more building design systems that AI tools can read and extend—components, tokens, rules legible to both people and models. You'll work close to code, prompt and direct AI to generate and iterate, push designs to something near shippable yourself. Almost a dev. We think the line between design and build is thinning fast, and we want someone leaning into that rather than waiting it out.
We care how things look and how they feel to use—same problem, to us. Clean lines, nothing arbitrary, the elegant solution usually the right one. Legal software is mostly ugly and joyless; we think that's an opening.
The thread through all of this is taste. You should have a point of view about why something works, and the restraint to cut what doesn't. AI generates infinite options; judgment is what's scarce. We ship often and deliberately; your work reaches users in days and stays with them for months to years.
Bonus: motion and video, fluency with current AI design and code tools, a body of personal work, opinions about fonts you'll defend.
