Job Summary
The Plating Technician performs electroplating and chemical plating on aeronautical, agricultural, and industrial components. This role includes preparing, masking, racking, and inspecting parts, operating plating equipment, and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and specification requirements. The Technician supports production deadlines, maintains equipment, documents work accurately, and contributes to continuous improvement. Strong attention to detail, the ability to read technical documents, and a commitment to a safe and organized work environment are essential.
What You'll Do:
- Operate plating equipment: Operate and control electroplating and chemical plating equipment.
- Perform plating processes: Conduct electro and chemical plating on various components.
- Handle chemicals safely: Follow all Health & Safety regulations when working with chemicals and materials.
- Maintain equipment: Clean, maintain, and perform basic equipment upkeep.
- Read technical documents: Interpret specifications, drawings, and work instructions accurately.
- Support production: Work with other departments to meet production schedules and customer needs.
- Protect confidentiality: Handle sensitive information professionally and ethically.
- Engage in improvement initiatives: Participate in CI, 5S, COS, and other improvement activities.
- Follow company standards: Comply with all company policies, procedures, and quality expectations.
- Maintain professionalism: Interact respectfully with coworkers, management, and customers.
- Rack parts effectively: Rack parts to meet quality and production standards.
- Perform inspections: Complete pre‑inspections and final inspections for damage, non‑conformance, and specification compliance.
- Document rework: Record plating‑related failures or rework in the designated logbook.
- Mask and handle components: Carefully mask and handle aviation components to avoid damage.
- Support departmental goals: Assist in meeting or exceeding department objectives.
- Other duties: Perform additional tasks as required.
What You'll Need:
- Plating or autobody experience: Previous electroplating, chemical plating, or autobody experience is an asset.
- Industrial or trade background: Experience in manufacturing or industrial settings preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools: Able to work confidently with common hand tools.
- Strong mathematical skills: Demonstrates accuracy in measurement and calculations.
- Blueprint reading: Able to interpret drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Sound decision‑making: Uses good judgement in daily work.
- Basic computer skills: Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
