Our client is a supplier of fine commercial contract furniture for the hospitality market.
They are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer specializing in furniture production, woodworking, wood frame construction, and upholstery. This on-site role involves programming 3 and 5 axis CNC machines, including 5 axis lathes, to support our furniture manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will work closely with CNC operators and production teams to ensure efficient and precise results.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop and optimize CNC programs for 3 and 5 axis machines, including 5 axis lathes, for furniture components.
· Create, edit, and refine programs using CAM software.
· Read and interpret complex technical drawings in both 2D and 3D formats.
· Set up and test CNC machines according to production requirements.
· Collaborate with CNC operators to troubleshoot and improve machining processes.
· Maintain quality control procedures to ensure parts meet required specifications.
· Manage nesting operations and material usage to maximize efficiency.
· Document programs and update records as needed for continuous improvement.
· Frequently move between the office and woodshop to confirm details with operators and builders.
· Support production needs through regular engagement with technical and production staff.
· Troubleshoot issues related to programming, setup, materials, and finished products.
Required Qualifications
· 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with preferred experience in furniture programming.
· Strong background in woodworking, wood frame construction, and upholstery.
· Expertise in CNC programming for 3 and 5 axis machines, including 5 axis lathes.
· Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, AlphaCAM, Pitagora, Pegasus, and Mastercam software.
· Experience with machine setup, testing, nesting, and material management.
· Understanding of solid wood properties, joinery, and CNC router bits.
· Excellent quality control skills and familiarity with industry standards.
· Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings in 2D and 3D.
· Strong mathematical skills for precise calculations and programming.
· Outstanding communication skills to work effectively with operators, builders, and staff.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement solutions autonomously.
Work Environment
· On-site position only; remote work is not available.
· Monday to Friday work schedule.
· Frequent movement between office and woodshop required.
· Physical ability to navigate a manufacturing environment.
· Regular interaction with production and technical teams.
