Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is at the forefront of building the REE industry right here in Saskatchewan and we’re looking for a Maintenance Planning Specialist to be part of operating our Rare Earth Processing Facility.
The Maintenance Planning Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing the maintenance planning and work management processes required to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the rare earth processing facility. During Operational Readiness, the role applies advanced maintenance knowledge to support the evaluation, selection, implementation, and administration of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and associated maintenance software, develops maintenance planning processes, and establishes the facility's maintenance management framework.

Accountabilities

Coordinate the evaluation, selection, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and supporting maintenance software

Develop business requirements, evaluate software solutions, recommend the preferred maintenance software stack, and support procurement activities

Coordinate with software vendors, implementation partners, IT, Engineering, and internal stakeholders to configure, test, and deploy the CMMS

Serve as the facility subject matter expert for the facility CMMS, providing system administration, user support, training, troubleshooting and recommendations for ongoing system improvements

Develop and maintain the asset hierarchy, equipment register, functional locations, preventive maintenance programs, maintenance coding standards, and equipment master data

Develop maintenance planning standards, work management processes, and governance practices to support safe, consistent and efficient maintenance execution

Ensure engineering documentation, equipment records, OEM manuals, spare parts information, and maintenance procedures are accurately incorporated into the CMMS

Develop standard maintenance job plans and detailed work packages for preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities
Qualifications

Journeyperson certification in a mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or related industrial trade, Engineering Technologist diploma, or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline

Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in industrial maintenance planning, reliability, maintenance supervision, or related maintenance roles in a heavy industrial environment

Practical experience implementing, administering, improving, or supporting a CMMS such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM, Oracle, Fiix, or equivalent

Experience supporting greenfield projects, commissioning, operational readiness, or facility start-up is considered a strong asset

Experience developing preventive maintenance programs, maintenance job plans, equipment hierarchies, and maintenance master data

Demonstrated experience working with OEM documentation, engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management software

Experience delivering user training and supporting organizational change during system implementations is considered an asset

Project management or maintenance planning certifications (e.g., PEMAC, SMRP, PMP) are considered assets
Skills

Advanced working knowledge of industrial maintenance planning, work management processes, and maintenance execution requirements

Demonstrated ability to implement, configure, administer, and improve CMMS processes and maintenance master data practices

Strong organizational, planning, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to analyze maintenance requirements and develop comprehensive work packages

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality and documentation standards

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical information, gain cooperation, and collaborate effectively across departments and with external vendors

Customer-focused approach with a commitment to supporting maintenance and operations teams

Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and support new software applications and digital tools

Ability to train, coach, and support users with varying levels of technical expertise
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
