Job Overview
Sylvan Construction is looking for a motivated and versatile Estimator & Design Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical computer-based work and hands-on involvement in the field.
You’ll play a key role in helping bring projects from concept to completion by assisting with design drawings, measurements, estimating, client communication, and site coordination.
This is not a position where you sit behind a desk all day. One day you may be preparing drawings or spreadsheets in the office, and the next you may be on-site measuring, meeting with clients, coordinating materials, or supporting the field team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with project estimating and budgeting
- Create drawings and layouts using SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar software
- Visit job sites to take measurements and gather project details
- Communicate with clients regarding finishes, materials, and project options
- Assist with material takeoffs and ordering
- Support project coordination between office and field teams
- Work with Excel, Knowify, and internal project systems
- Help maintain organized project documentation
- Occasionally assist with site tasks or deliveries when required
Qualifications
Preferred skills and experience:
- Experience with SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar design software
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Comfortable learning estimating software
- Strong knowledge of construction processes
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients and trades
- Valid driver’s license, clean abstract and reliable transportation
- Constructionfield experience is considered an asset
- Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Relevant degree or certification in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related fields is desirable.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
