Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Dispatch Operator & Safety Officer to support our fast‑paced traffic control operations. This dual‑focused role is responsible for coordinating daily dispatch activities while ensuring all crews are properly equipped, compliant, and performing their duties to the highest safety standards.
As a key liaison between our Health & Safety Representative and field employees, this individual will help reinforce our safety culture, address on‑site needs, and maintain clear, consistent communication across the team.
The ideal candidate is energetic, detail‑driven, and confident in managing complex logistics, safety protocols, and real‑time problem solving. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a central role in keeping our operations efficient, professional, and safe.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatch of Traffic Control Persons (TCPs), Lane Techs, and equipment to job sites, ensuring crews are assigned efficiently and according to project requirements.
- Use GPS, mapping tools, and traffic management applications to plan routes, track crew locations, and support real‑time adjustments to meet client and site demands.
- Communicate with field crews, supervisors, and clients through multi‑line phone systems and digital platforms to confirm deployment, address issues, and maintain smooth operational flow.
- Maintain accurate records of crew assignments, site details, safety documentation, and daily dispatch logs to support compliance and reporting.
- Monitor fleet and equipment readiness, including vehicle checks, maintenance schedules, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Conduct on‑site safety inspections, verify PPE compliance, and reinforce company safety protocols, serving as the Safety Officer during daily operations.
- Act as a liaison between employees and the Health & Safety Representative, ensuring concerns are communicated promptly and corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide clear verbal and written instructions to crews, ensuring they understand traffic control plans, safety expectations, and client requirements.
- Identify operational efficiencies, troubleshoot dispatch or site‑related challenges, and recommend improvements to enhance safety, productivity, and service quality.
Qualifications
- Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) Ticket or willingness to obtain one through our in‑house certification course.
- Previous experience in dispatching, traffic control operations, or coordinating field crews in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong understanding of GPS, mapping tools, and basic traffic management principles to support efficient crew deployment.
- Demonstrated awareness of health and safety practices, with the ability to reinforce protocols and support a strong safety culture.
- Excellent communication skills, including clear verbal direction and professional written documentation.
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail, accuracy, and time‑sensitive decision‑making.
- Ability to analyze operational information, troubleshoot issues, and adapt quickly to changing site or client needs.
- Comfortable working with digital dispatch tools, mobile apps, and multi‑line phone systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.25-$22.00 per hour
