The Opportunity
Are you passionate about bridging the gap between high school and the high-demand industries of Northern Alberta? The Peace River School Division (PRSD) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and student-centered Coordinator of Career Pathways and Collegiate Programming.
This position is a two-year term appointment, funded through current grant approvals. Continuation beyond the initial term may be considered, subject to future grant funding and Division needs.
Based in the beautiful North Peace region, this leadership role serves approximately 3,000 students across a vast and diverse geographic area. This is a transformative position for a leader who values both academic rigour and the importance of our regional economy. You will help students from Red Earth Creek to Bear Canyon recognize their unique talents and navigate meaningful pathways toward post-secondary education and the world of work.
The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the Coordinator provides leadership and strategic oversight for division-wide career programming. You will lead initiatives that support student career development while fostering strong partnerships with families, schools, industry, and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor Off-Campus and Career Pathways teachers, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of Dual Credit, the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), Green Certificate, CTS/CTF, and Work Experience.

Lead the design, submission, and implementation of locally developed courses (LDC), specifically focusing on Class 1 and Class 3 Commercial Driver Training pathways.

Create lesson plans, instructor guides, student manuals, training resources and evaluation tools.
- Collaborate with driving instructors and simulation developers to build interactive simulations, scenarios, and debrief protocols.
- Promote and implement PRSD's Career Pathway Model, particularly the “Discovery Phase” in grades 7-9, to help student connect classroom talents to professional opportunities.
- Promote and facilitate Career Education opportunities for PRSD students in our schools and community.
- Foster relationships with post-secondary institutions, industry stakeholders, and community partners to expand Dual Credit and CTS/CTF initiatives.
- Manage provincial reporting requirements and grant applications (Dual Credit/CT Protocol), ensuring all programs align with Alberta Education standards.

Work closely with the Collegiate School Administrative Clerk regarding scheduling of events.

Report regularly to the Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services.
Qualifications & Skills:

Must hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Proven experience in curriculum integration, instructional design, and competency-based assessment.

Strong understanding of trades apprenticeship certification pathways.
- Experience in industry practices, particularly transportation, commercial driving, or vocational education, is considered a significant asset.

Ability to work seamlessly with industry stakeholders, driving instructors, school administrators, teachers, families, and students.

Strong organizational and writing skills to manage complex program documentation and provincial reporting.

A genuine passion for helping youth build practical skills required for a successful transition into the workforce.
The position will commence on May 11th, 2026, or a mutually agreed-upon start date, subject to individual circumstances.

Annual Salary Range: $62,702 to $105,996 (dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the Alberta Teachers' Association and the Peace River School Division) and additional allowance as per Article 3.
