Steel Erector Supervisor
Location: Timmins, ON
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: CA$40.00–CA$50.00 per hour
About the Role
STW Field Install & Welding is seeking an experienced Steel Erector Supervisor to lead field crews in the safe and efficient erection of structural steel on commercial and industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising daily site operations, coordinating manpower and equipment, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate structural steel erection crews on site.
- Plan daily work activities, sequencing, and site logistics.
- Ensure all work complies with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Enforce company safety policies and OHSA regulations.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site inspections.
- Coordinate work with project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Track labour hours, productivity, and project progress, providing weekly reports.
- Maintain accurate daily site documentation and timesheets.
- Ensure proper use and inspection of tools, equipment, rigging, and lifting devices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Represent STW Field Install & Welding at site meetings and client walkthroughs.
Qualifications & Certifications
The successful candidate must possess:
- Valid Basics of Supervising certificate (approved provider).
- Recognition as a Competent Person under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Valid Working at Heights certificate (MLTSD approved).
- Valid CWB Welding Certificate.
- Valid MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) operator certification.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record.
Experience
- Minimum 5* years' experience* supervising commercial or industrial structural steel erection projects valued at $100,000 or more.
- Strong experience with structural steel erection, rigging, hoisting, crane coordination, and structural framing systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing field crews while maintaining safety, productivity, and quality.
Skills
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings and specifications.
- Strong planning and scheduling skills.
- Computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Office, digital timesheets, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting project deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and performing frequent site inspections.
- Must successfully complete any required site-specific safety training and medical requirements.
