Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to operate excavators, dozers, loaders, and related machinery on active construction sites. You will work closely with grade crews and supervision to complete excavation, grading, and material handling to spec.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, and skid steers
- Perform excavation, backfill, grading, and material placement to required lines and grades
- Complete daily pre-operation inspections and report mechanical issues promptly
- Work alongside spotters and ground crews, maintaining clear communication and safe distances
- Follow excavation, trenching, and locate procedures at all times
- Assist with general labour and site cleanup as required
- Maintain accurate equipment logs and fueling/greasing routines
Qualifications:
- 3+ years operating heavy construction equipment
- Demonstrated proficiency with at least two machine types (excavator strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of site safety, trenching, and underground utility awareness
- Working at Heights and WHMIS an asset
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various sites
- Valid Ontario driver's license (DZ/AZ an asset)
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
Work Location: In person, project sites (Hamilton, ON area)
