Job Overview
Lockdoor Canada Ltd is an architectural door and hardware distributor based in Waterloo, Ontario. We serve general contractors, property managers and companies throughout central western Ontario. Our product line includes wood, hollow metal and aluminum doors with mechanical and electronic locks, automatic door operators, exit devices, closers and security hardware. Our custom fabrication shop is clean, air conditioned and brightly lit.
We require an experienced fabricator for our hollow metal door shop to hand weld door frames and prep doors for lite kits, louvres, locks, exit devices, and other devices using shop drawings, templates, jigs and instruction sheets . Craftmanship matters.
Responsibilities
- Assemble components according to technical specifications and templates.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment safely and effectively
- Prep door frames for anchors, electric strikes, power transfers and deadbolts.
- Hand weld door frames, door sidelite units, borrowed lites and window wall units
- Cut in door lights, install kits and glaze with fire rated and tempered glass.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the assembly process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols
- Receive and stock doors, frames and hardware; load finished goods for pick up and delivery.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and improve assembly processes
Qualifications
- Prior experience in manufacturing, fabricating and assembly
- Proficient with air/hand tools, band saws, jig saws and chop saws
- Skilled hand mig welding of light gauge steel..
- Fit and able to handle 100 lb steel doors
- Work with both imperial and metric measurements
- Able to follow shop drawings, templates and instructions to prepare doors
- and frames for lites, louvres and hardware.
- Accurately cut out openings for door lites and louvres
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory
