We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of bookkeeping principles and a strong desire to learn and grow within our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Entry: Accurately input financial transactions into accounting software and spreadsheets, and maintain complete audit trail for all financial activities
- Accounts Receivable: Collate time data and costs for invoicing review; create Time and Material invoices; create Progress Draw Invoices; Issue Statutory Declarations and WCB Clearance letters; post deposits; maintain AR files; weekly reporting to Controller; monthly statements to customers.
- Payroll: Bi-weekly payroll; maintain and update employee files; track sick days; vacation/benefit entitlements; government remittances
- Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team to support various accounting tasks as needed
- Systems: Proactively learn systems, and work with finance team and management to establish best practices for improving and streamlining processes
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Post Secondary Education an asset.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years previous experience in a Bookkeeping role.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks and Excel required, experience with Sage Intacct (or similar ERP program) a definite asset).
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proven understanding of accounting principles and practices, be able to perform full-cycle bookkeeping with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and analytical skills, both written and verbal.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism

Work Environment:
- Office-based, 5 days/40 hours per week
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $25 to $35 per hour, based on skills and experience
- Overtime and vacation pay as per industry standard
