Aurora Academic Charter Primary School is a public charter school that believes that all students can achieve excellence within a highly structured direct instruction and strong academic focused environment, specifically in Literacy and Numeracy. Aurora is one of the top 20 elementary schools in Alberta in provincial exam achievement. The successful applicant will be expected to attend training in these areas as a condition of employment.
Successful applicants are offered orientation, training, and will work in a challenging and academic environment. School enrollment is currently 850 students and class sizes range from 20 to 24. Salaries are on par with other larger school districts, teachers are associate members of the ATA with a collective agreement, and the school has a team-centered approach with all staff contributing to the development of the school community spirit.
Required General Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education Degree - experience and specializing in English Language Arts and/or Social Studies is an asset.
- Knowledge of a student-centered highly structured direct instruction model.
- The ability to use technology (especially the Google apps and platform) as a tool to enhance learning
- Must be living in the Edmonton area in order to be contacted and interviewed
- A clear Alberta Teacher Registry

- Most recent evaluation (principal, practicum AFX, supervisor, etc.)
- Valid Alberta Interim or Professional Teaching Certificate
- Current Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (current within the past 6 months) from a Canadian police service. You will not be contacted for an interview unless you have one that is current or in the process of getting one.
