Regenesis Centre for Recovery (RCR) is a nonprofit and registered charity providing live-in addiction recovery support for women and gender-diverse adults from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
In order to reflect the relatives RCR serves, hiring preference is given to women and gender-diverse applicants belonging to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, along with those who are: racial equity-seeking, living with a disability, and/or have lived experience with addiction. Preference is also given to those competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values. Position Summary
Peer Mentors at Regenesis Centre for Recovery support Relatives (program participants) in a home-based recovery setting by facilitating daily programming and activities, maintaining safety, and fostering a compassionate, inclusive environment. The role focuses on supervision, program support, and promoting healing and self-empowerment for women and gender-diverse adults from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. It is well suited to individuals who value relational, trauma-informed approaches to recovery and who are comfortable working independently in a shared living environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate programs, activities, and community outings.
- Monitor the environment and respond appropriately to safety concerns or emergencies.
- Provide supportive, relational check-ins with Relatives as needed.
- Complete shift documentation, incident reports, and program records as required.
- Support medication compliance oversight according to RCR policy.
- Assist with household tasks and maintain a respectful shared living environment.
- Communicate relevant information to the incoming team during shift handovers.
- Contribute to a culturally safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment.
Qualifications and skills
- Grade 12 equivalent education, or a combination of other educational levels and experience will be considered.
- Experience in addictions, mental health, or social services.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to contribute to a culturally-safe environment, demonstrating compassion and empathy.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Comfortable supporting individuals in crisis or with challenging behaviors.
- Proficiency in English; other language skills (especially Indigenous) are an asset.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Google Workspace).
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ and other communities and systems RCR serves is an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the relevant regulatory body, if applicable.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract are preferred.
- Satisfactory criminal record check including vulnerable sector search, clear child and adult abuse registry check.
- First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid ASIST, NVCI, Food Handler Training Certificate, or related/similar certifications are considered an asset.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Having a criminal record will not disqualify you from joining our team, however RCR does have an obligation to provide a safe environment for our relatives’ healing. We will weigh the circumstances of a record on a case-by-case basis following the submission of the criminal record check.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
