RETAIL Manager
The Retail Manager contributes to the success of the business by providing a consistent retail floor presence and direct support to the employees and ensuring that the retail floor consistently meets performance expectations in terms of customer experience and retail execution. The role of Retail Manager requires a close working relationship and extensive communication with the Store Manager and General Manager.
One year or more of management experience required.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
Retail Execution
· Ensure the retail floor maintains its gold status and recertifies within the allotted time each year.
· Maintain department holes at a level within field report criteria to ensure a score of 5 out of 5 on the field report.
· Be up to date with and meet expectations as regards the store report
· Ensure consistent quality of store presentation through a strong floor presence by focusing on the 5 basics of retail (Customer service, Faced, Filled, Signed and Cleaned) through effective delegation and direct involvement.
· Continuously review, together with the appropriate managers, retail presentation to ensure that: merchandising standards are current; new products are incorporated into the assortment quickly; homes for discontinued products are reassigned; and that secondary filling and maintenance routines are established and met.
· In the absence of the General Manager and Store Manager supervise daily departmental operations so as to meet established productivity goals
· Communicate daily with the General Manager to review plans, goals and standards
Customer Service
· Provide a strong floor presence to maintain a consistent “customer first” culture throughout the retail floor.
· Interface regularly with customers to assess customer service performance levels.
· Respond to formal complaints so as to maintain customer loyalty at the highest possible level.
Human resources
· Spend sufficient time with employees to keep them current with new store policies and procedures and ensure there is an ongoing training process to assist in limiting turnover.
· Assist with prioritizing of daily, weekly and monthly goal setting and planning.
· Deliver and monitor training programs and staff development initiatives that will ensure that standards are understood and met.
· Implement departmental/store efficiencies.
· Assist in the orientation of new hires.
· Assisting in setting objectives designed to improve performance and recognizing achievement where objectives are met or exceeded.
· Communicate and ensure compliance with company, store and department policies.
· Maintain department and store safety and security procedures and ensure staff compliance.
· Participate in training, as required.
· Complete other tasks, as required.
Major Requirements and Competencies
· Experience in retail sales, execution, and operations
· Demonstrated supervisory experience.
· Ability to provide professional customer service, employee and manager support.
· Ability to lead a team to achieve common goals.
· Ability to maintain composure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Effective written and oral communication skills
· Basic math skills
Physical Demands (refers to an 8-hour shift with standard breaks)
· Ability to stand for 8 hours or more.
· Ability to lift 40 lbs. unassisted.
· Ability to lift and turn repeatedly throughout the shift.
· Ability to lift above shoulder and from floor to shoulder and floor to waist.
· Ability to go up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise.
· Ability to walk and carry at same time and push/pull as required.

As a member of the management team, it is expected that the manager will show support for the store, its staff and managers by attending, whenever possible, store functions such as Christmas parties, staff functions, meetings, etc. It is also expected that, as a member of the management team, the manager will support any and all store initiatives, policies, procedures and management decisions. The manager must realize that they carry responsibilities for ensuring that the store is running at a high level and meets certain goals and time lines regarding issues such as number of holes, over all cleanliness, field report marks and monthly, weekly, or daily tasks as identified by the General Manager. These goals, tasks and timelines should be met through effective delegation and direct involvement from the manager. At times an increased time commitment from the manager may be required to ensure these commitments are met. Duties
As a Retail Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail store. Your main duties will include:
- Managing and supervising store staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
- Opening and closing the store, running end of day and making sure the store is ready for the start of the next day
- Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring adequate stock availability
- Implementing effective merchandising strategies to maximize sales
- Providing exceptional customer service and resolving customer complaints or issues
- Analyzing sales data and implementing strategies to improve store performance
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Managing cash handling procedures and maintaining accurate financial records
- Collaborating with other departments to coordinate promotions or marketing campaigns
