Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Cost Controller to join our team. In this vital role, you will oversee and manage project costs, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance across all phases of our projects. Your expertise will support effective budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting to help drive project success and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project budgets and cost breakdown structures
- Set up and maintain project cost tracking (labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, etc.)
- Monitor actual costs against budget and identify variances
- Update and maintain cost tracking reports on a weekly basis
- Review Purchase Requests (PR) to ensure budget availability and proper cost allocation
- Verify that all project-related expenses are properly approved and coded
- Track committed costs (POs/contracts) versus actual incurred costs
- Prepare periodic cost reports and support project cost forecasting (EAC)
- Analyze cost variances and provide recommendations for cost control
- Track change orders and ensure all additional costs are properly recorded
- Support preparation of cost-related documentation for client billing and change orders
- Coordinate with Project Managers, site teams, and accounting to ensure accurate cost capture
- Support audits and maintain proper documentation of project costs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in project cost control / project accounting / construction environment
- Strong Excel skills (cost tracking, pivot tables, basic modeling)
- Understanding of project lifecycle and construction cost structure
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Good communication skills in English (Mandarin is an asset)
Preferred
- Experience in oil & gas / construction projects
- Knowledge of project controls concepts (budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking)
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
