Rockwood Nursery School is looking for a dedicated and professional Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team. In this role, you will support the well-being and learning of all children in our care, executing daily classroom operations to meet and exceed early learning requirements. Reporting to the Board of Directors and supported by the Supervisor, you will play a vital role in our community-based, cooperative environment.
Rockwood Nursery School follows a school-year calendar, with classes commencing in September 2026 and ending in June 2026. While this is a contract position ending in June, it is a recurring role within our organization. We have a high rate of staff retention and fully intend to renew this contract, pending successful completion of the school year and enrollment stability.
Key Responsibilities
As a Teacher at Rockwood Nursery School, your duties include:
- Pedagogy & Development: Supervise and guide children in their development according to the school’s philosophy.
- Program Planning: Participate in ongoing program planning and larger-scale practices to ensure materials and curricula are current.
- Advocacy & Support: Provide support for families, including advocating for resource access, attending student meetings, and implementing Individualized Support Plans (ISPs) with resource personnel.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict awareness of the Ministry of Education’s Child Care Licensing Manual and implement school policies regarding behavior management, fire safety, and health.
- Communication: Prepare monthly parent newsletters and maintain a professional liaison with the parent body while ensuring strict confidentiality.
- Community Engagement: Attend all monthly Board meetings, membership meetings, and school fundraising functions.
- Leadership: Provide direction to the classroom’s Teaching Assistant and assist with school projects and events where necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Status: Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Safety Clearances: Current Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector). Proof of up-to-date vaccinations available.
- Certifications: Valid CPR-C and First Aid Certification.
- Commitment: Willingness to participate in ongoing staff training and continued education.
- Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in an Early Years’ class room setting.
- References: At least 2 professional references required.

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
