Job description:
We are seeking a kind, compassionate, reliable, and experienced overnight care aide to provide one-on-one private care for an elderly gentleman with limited mobility who is at VGH long term.
The ideal candidate should either have had prior experience as a caretaker or is a pre-nursing student, and be available to work on night shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provide overnight companionship and supervision
- Assist with mobility and repositioning as needed
- Assist with feeding and hydration when required
- Assist with personal hygiene and toileting
- Monitor comfort and promptly alert nursing staff if assistance is required
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment
- Communicate professionally with family members and hospital staff
Qualifications
- Previous experience caring for seniors or individuals with limited mobility is strongly preferred
- Compassionate, dependable, patient, and attentive
- Comfortable providing hands-on personal care
- Professional spoken Mandarin or Cantonese is required
- Available to work overnight shifts
- Able to work at Vancouver General Hospital
- Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) required before employment
Compensation
$23–$28 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Part-time, casual, or full-time schedules will be considered.
