POSITION OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a Field Communications Technician to join our team based out of our Grande Prairie location.
This is a full-time position that combines field work, travel, troubleshooting, equipment installation, and customer service. New team members will begin by working alongside experienced technicians before progressing to independent field work.
What You'll Do:
- Install, service, and troubleshoot communications equipment at remote worksites throughout Western Canada
- Set up and maintain cellular boosters, internet systems, portable communication towers, and related equipment
- Diagnose and repair equipment issues both in the field and in the shop
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of communications systems
- Follow all corporate and client safety requirements
- Build strong relationships with customers and represent Astro professionally on site
- Complete documentation and reports as required
- Assist with additional projects and duties as needed
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently once trained
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Assets (But Not Required)
- Telecommunications or communications experience
- RF, networking, or wireless communications knowledge
- Experience working in the oilfield or industrial environments
- Electrical, mechanical, or technical training
- Experience with computers, networking, or data systems
