Job Summary
Oak Bay Seafood is a fresh seafood market combined with a busy fish and chip take out kitchen. The kitchen also prepares a full line of soups, stocks and other items available for sale in the market. We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Seafood Clerk/Line-Prep Cook to join our team. In this position you will be required to handle retail sales for 2 days a week and to join the kitchen team for the balance of your weekly shifts. The job requires a combination of excellent customer service skills as well as solid kitchen experience in food prep and working on the line. Background knowledge of local seafood and experience filleting fish would be an asset. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on delivering exceptional seafood and meal experiences.
Retail duties will include:
- Assisting customers in selecting seafood products and providing recommendations
- Ensuring all seafood products on display are fresh and correctly labelled
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the display case and retail area
- Following all food safety regulations during handling, preparation, and packaging of seafood products
- Familiarity with point of sale systems for all retail sales.
- Accurately handling phone orders for take out from the kitchen.
In the kitchen you will need:
- Solid background in kitchen environment with knowledge of food safety standards and experience of food preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with multiple ordering apps for pick up and delivery.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment in an open kitchen while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with food handling, safety procedures, and sanitation standards in the food industry
Tips $6/hr cash additional to wage
