Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our Technical Staff work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
Reporting to the Project Team Lead, the Electrical Technician will be responsible for supporting the installation and commissioning of a European Train Control system into a fleet of locomotives and cab cars operated on a major regional rail network operating within the GTHA. Our team of technicians will be responsible for the onsite installation of this complex system into the vehicles ensuring they are delivered to the customer on time and fully functional while meeting all contractual and EHS milestones.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Install electrical wiring, cables, and conduits throughout the train for ETCS and brake modification systems
- Ensure proper power supply connections for all electrical equipment, including AC/DC converters

Perform electrical connections for emergency and service brake valves, including relay connections and pressure switch interfaces

Conduct basic electrical checks and support Post-Installation Check Out (PICO) procedures

Install and connect electrical elements on the driver's desk, including isolation switches, lamps, and reset buttons
- Support the Quality Assurance Technician with any QA activities to ensure proper installation or all electrical parts and systems
Requirements
- Completed post-secondary education in the field of Electrical Engineering from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience

2-3 years of proven experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in rail, heavy machinery, or automotive industries
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics

Strong understanding of electrical wiring principles and practices

Strong attention to detail and precision in electrical work

Strong communication skills and understanding of safety with compliance to EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) requirements
Pay
- $28/hr, annual 10% bonus based on EHS performance and compliance, annual increases
