POSITION SUMMARY:
The Numeracy Coordinator will work in classrooms with teachers and students to support student achievement in numeracy. The Numeracy Coordinator is a trained professional in numeracy education and serves as a leader in the field of numeracy. The successful applicant will provide services that include district assessment, co-teaching, developing and mentoring numeracy programs, and providing instructional support. They will collaborate with schools to develop short-term, medium-term, and long-term literacy plans that align with the district's strategic plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop, implement, and support district- wide numeracy plans, and resources.
· Monitor, assess, evaluate, and report on student progress.
· Deliver district-wide efforts to improve numeracy instruction.
· Facilitate professional development in accordance with the district strategic plan & provincial outcomes.
· Facilitate collaboration amongst all district staff.
· Consult with Inclusive Leads and Teachers to develop and maintain student numeracy goals.
· Recommend policy development for numeracy programming and assessment.
· Prepare and submit reports as required by the Director of Learning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Desired Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
o Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed.)
o Master of Education (M.Ed.) preferred.
o Knowledge of Alberta Education, curriculum standards, and Ministry initiatives.
o Knowledge of best practices in numeracy assessment, evaluation and research.
o Experience with current numeracy resources.
o Experience teaching students of multiple grades, divisions, and diverse needs is an asset.
o Experience working with teachers to integrate effective numeracy instruction.
· Personal Attributes:
o Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
o Ability to apply innovative numeracy programs to teaching and learning practices.
o Established leadership in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a divisional numeracy plan.
o Demonstrated success in facilitating professional development at both the classroom and school levels.
· General Employment Requirements:
o Valid Alberta Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate
o Current Criminal Record Check, and Vulnerable Sector Check.
o Oath of Confidentiality.
o Valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation.
