Job responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance of company’s safety policy and procedure by regular review meetings with staff and monitoring company’s CVOR-safety rating, driver vehicle inspections on monthly basis.
- Lead the hiring and selection process for truck drivers. Conduct comprehensive driver orientations, covering company policies, safety protocols, and border crossing procedures.
- Coordinating maintenance plans with the dispatch team to ensure trucks are ready to go back on the road as per the needs of the dispatch team.
- Ensuring all accident claims are registered with updated documents, adjust physical damage claims including unreported damage claims.
- Discuss accidents, damage, violation preventability, and processes with commercial vehicle drivers.
- Track each accident claim by updating Crash frequency register and reviewing loss run report.
- Manage and audit Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and paper logbooks to ensure strict adherence to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
- Evaluating company's safety rating by regularly updating and monitoring Risk factor spreadsheets.
- Reviewing and persistent follow up on traffic tickets, convictions and accidents.
- Regularly monitoring of federal and provincial safety regulations to keep current with safety and compliance programs and to implement changes
- Efficiently manage documents of all trucks and trailer files with two years of annual inspections and repair bills with attached CVOR in each vehicle file and driver file.
- Reviewing CVOR, applying and renewing permits, IRP applications.
- Contribute to training planning and course development to address emerging safety and compliance issues
- Communicate with the Claims team as well as the Safety/Compliance team (and others as necessary) on any relevant items
- Be available on-call for nights and weekends for safety related calls and other duties as necessary.
- Perform other administrative and general tasks as they arise.
Desired Skills and Experience :
- Minimum of 4 years of Transportation/Trucking Experience Required.
- Sound analytical and critical thinking skills
- Having Class 1 Driver’s License will be considered as an asset.
- Good time management with an ability to prioritize and delegate work amongst a group.
- Computer proficiency – excellent MS Office skills, must be comfortable with new software and interfaces
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- The ability to thrive in a fast-pace, deadline-oriented environment
- The ideal candidate will be an independent self-starter with excellent problem solving skills, who also can work as a team when needed.
