Our Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO)team is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to enhance our project management capabilities by leveraging advanced business analysis techniques and technologies. This pivotal role involves not only supporting the research and implementation of project management tools but also performing core business analysis duties. You will be instrumental in analyzing and re-engineering business processes, gathering and defining detailed project requirements, and ensuring that solutions meet business needs. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams to drive improvements, optimize workflows, and deliver strategic insights that influence project outcomes across the organization.
What will I be doing?
- Conduct thorough business process analyses to identify improvement opportunities.
- Translate complex project requirements into detailed functional specifications and user stories.
- Lead the mapping of project scope and the comprehensive gathering of business requirements to ensure all project objectives are clearly outlined.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine project scopes and deliver tailored solutions.
- Lead the development and integration of project management tools, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to support project management activities, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated reporting systems using tools such as Microsoft PowerBI.
- Analyze project data to derive actionable insights, monitor KPIs, and support decision-making processes.
- Ensure high standards of data integrity and accuracy in all project reporting.
- Facilitate effective communication channels between project teams, internal business departments, and external partners.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with projects and data analytics.
- Provide guidance and training on the use of project management tools and reporting platforms.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Possession of a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Process Improvement, or a related discipline, which supports a deep understanding of technical and operational aspects of project management – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated years of experience as a Business Analyst with a proven track record in applying project management principles and practices. Experience in the transport, construction industry, or public sector is preferred, showcasing a strong ability to manage and improve complex business processes.
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) is highly valued. While not required, Project Management Professional (PMP) and relevant IT certifications are considered a significant asset.
- Advanced proficiency in project management tools such as Asana, Microsoft Project and MS Project for the Web, along with PowerBI. A strong foundation in utilizing these tools to conduct thorough data analysis, enhance project tracking, and improve reporting efficiencies.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data to assess project performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and drive informed decision-making processes.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for effectively articulating project updates, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring that project information is conveyed clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
