Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Temporary Dinner Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing evening meals for residents at a retirement home. This role requires a focus on food safety, meal quality, and efficient kitchen operations to ensure residents enjoy well-balanced dinners in a warm and welcoming environment. Duties
- Prepare and cook dinner meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines
- Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Handle food with proper safety and sanitation practices, ensuring cleanliness throughout the kitchen
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, mixing, and portioning ingredients
- Maintain accurate food handling records and adhere to food safety regulations
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored after use
- Collaborate with dining staff to coordinate meal service times and special dietary needs
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies need replenishing
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service, preferably within a restaurant or healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation procedures
- Ability to serve meals efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Excellent meal preparation skills with attention to presentation and portion control
- Familiarity with the food industry’s best practices for kitchen safety and hygiene
- Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks during meal prep and service times
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
