WillowWood School is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated English Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students through the exploration of literature and language. The ideal candidate will have experience with differentiated instruction and diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in English Language and English Literature to students across Grades 9–12.
- Develop lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and educational goals.
- Promote a dynamic classroom culture that encourages creativity, discussion, and critical thinking.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback through grading, parent communication, and student conferences and observations.
- Implement principles of Growing Success for assessment and evaluation in Ontario
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance and write reports as required
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular projects and school events.
- Support the well-being of students by building positive relationships and maintaining high expectations.
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events as required.
Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in English and / or Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching OCT certification
- Proven experience teaching English at the middle or high school level.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire creativity and confidence in young performers and writers.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with a range of literary texts and dramatic genres.
- Passion for inclusive and student-centered teaching practices.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
