Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical assistant to join our optical team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting patients with selecting and fitting eyewear, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the overall operations of the optical practice. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment where technical skills and retail experience are highly valued. Candidates with a background in medical terminology, laboratory experience, or optical retail sales will find this role especially fitting. The Optician will collaborate closely with optometrists and other team members to ensure patient satisfaction and optimal eyewear solutions.
Responsibilities
- Help patients choose frames and lenses based on their needs and lifestyle.
- Adjust, fit, and perform minor repairs on eyeglasses.
- Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records.
- Process eyewear and contact lens orders.
- Assist with insurance claims and payments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked dispensary.
- Work closely with the optometrist and team to deliver an outstanding patient experience.
Experience
- Fluent in both English and French (required).
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care is advantageous
- Background in retail management or sales can be beneficial for advancing within the role
- Previous optical experience or training in eyewear fitting is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are essential for success in this role
