Soma Chocolatemaker is looking for FT BOH Production Assistant at our Brock Location. Work within a small dynamic passionate team to make award-winning bean to bar chocolate and gelato.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to increase their knowledge, learn techniques and gain experience in chocolate/bakery/gelato production.

Position Details:
Duties:
- Assisting with making chocolate and confections
- Perform basic mechanical service on the equipment as needed
- Operate the equipment for roasting and winnowing, grinding etc.as per the specifications and procedures
- Monitor quality of roasted cacao and nibs/ liquor/chocolate
- Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining product quality and food safety program practices
- Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining the Health and Safety program.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 3 years experience in food processing or related industry
- 1 year experience with roasting or other process equipment desired
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and food safety procedures
- Experience in a kitchen or bakery setting is mandatory. Experience in a chocolate setting is an asset but not mandatory
- Pastry and baking experience is mandatory
- Good perception of chocolate and cacao flavours
- Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure completion with minimal errors
- Strong ability to independently assess and promptly rectify difficult situations and/or issues
- Active knowledge of health and safety regulations in high heat / gas appliance areas
- Frequent lifting and bending and long periods of standing are required – may occasionally lift 25 kg
- Work in temperatures from 10 to 35 degrees celsius and periods of extreme heat where precautions are in place.
