The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, sales-driven Store Manager to lead and grow a denim retail business.This is not a back-office management role. We need a highly visible, hands-on sales leader who is actively engaged with the team, the customer, and every stage of the in-store journey. You will lead from the sales floor, build a strong service culture, develop high-performing talent, and make confident business decisions that drive results.You understand that selling denim requires more than product availability. It requires strong knowledge of fit, fabric, washes, silhouettes, and styling—combined with the ability to create a personalized and confident customer experience.The successful candidate will operate with an owner’s mindset, taking full accountability for the store’s performance and long-term success. You will identify opportunities, solve problems, make timely decisions, and lead the team through change. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and can create clarity, focus, and momentum in an evolving business.We are looking for someone who wants to truly partner with us to grow the business and who will treat the store as though it were their own.
What You’ll Own
Sales and Business Performance
- Take full ownership of the store’s sales performance, profitability, and overall business results.
- Maintain a strong presence on the sales floor, actively selling, engaging customers, and supporting the team.
- Set clear daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals and translate them into focused action plans.
- Use key performance indicators including sales, conversion, average transaction value, units per transaction, traffic, productivity, and customer retention to guide decisions.
- Identify sales opportunities and respond quickly to performance trends, customer feedback, inventory needs, and market conditions.
- Manage payroll, scheduling, staffing levels, expenses, and productivity in alignment with business needs.
- Communicate results, risks, opportunities, and action plans clearly to senior leadership.
- Make confident commercial decisions that support both immediate results and long-term growth.
Customer Experience and Denim Expertise
- Create an elevated, consistent, and personalized customer journey from entry through purchase and post-sale service.
- Build a store culture centred on relationship-based selling, customer loyalty, and genuine service.
- Ensure the team is confident recommending denim based on fit, body type, lifestyle, wash, silhouette, and styling needs.
- Train the team to use strong discovery questions, fitting-room service, outfitting, and product knowledge to increase customer confidence and drive sales.
- Develop clienteling behaviours that encourage repeat visits and long-term customer relationships.
- Ensure omnichannel services are executed accurately and provide a seamless customer experience.
- Respond to customer concerns promptly and use feedback to improve the overall store experience.
Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and retain a passionate, sales-focused store team.
- Build a high-performance culture through clear expectations, consistent coaching, recognition, accountability, and follow-up.
- Provide regular in-the-moment coaching on selling behaviours, denim knowledge, customer engagement, and performance.
- Develop Assistant Managers and Key Holders into confident and capable business leaders.
- Identify talent opportunities and build a strong internal succession pipeline.
- Address employee concerns, conflicts, and performance issues promptly, fairly, and professionally.
- Create an inclusive environment where employees feel supported, motivated, and accountable for results.
- Lead the team confidently through change, uncertainty, and evolving business priorities.
- Ensure every team member understands how their individual contribution impacts the overall business.
Store Operations and Brand Execution
- Ensure the store consistently meets all visual, merchandising, operational, and customer-service standards.
- Lead product launches, promotional changes, floor sets, markdowns, replenishment, and marketing initiatives.
- Maintain strong inventory organization, product availability, fitting-room standards, and overall store presentation.
- Use visual merchandising to improve store flow, shopability, outfitting opportunities, and commercial impact.
- Partner with visual and operational teams to ensure execution supports the customer journey and sales strategy.
- Maintain compliance with all loss-prevention, health and safety, cash-handling, and operational policies.
- Protect the customer experience while maintaining strong operational discipline.
The Experience We’re Looking For
- Minimum (5) five years of progressive retail leadership experience.
- Previous leadership experience in a denim-focused or premium fashion retail environment is preferred.
- Proven experience leading a retail business with annual sales of approximately $2–$3 million.
- Strong knowledge of denim fits, washes, fabrications, silhouettes, and styling.
- Proven ability to train and develop a team to sell denim through fit expertise, product knowledge, and personalized recommendations.
- Demonstrated success driving sales, conversion, units per transaction, average transaction value, productivity, and customer retention.
- A highly visible, hands-on leadership style with a genuine passion for selling and customer engagement.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret performance data and take decisive action.
- Proven success recruiting, coaching, developing, motivating, and retaining high-performing teams.
- Experience leading teams through change and delivering results in an evolving or ambiguous environment.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, resilience, and personal accountability.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Experience in visual merchandising, store operations, inventory management, and loss prevention.
- Ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively across multiple areas of the business.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel occasionally between store locations when required.
- Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
