The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the General Accountant provides financial and accounting support to the Finance team, including month-end and year-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, payroll administration, accounts payable oversight, and financial analysis. This role contributes to the accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement of the Corporation’s financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including Board and year-end reporting.
- Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, and working papers.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare HST rebate claims, capital reserve analyses, and subsidy reporting.
- Assist with annual operating and capital budget preparation.
- Support payroll administration and provide oversight of accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Provide financial support and guidance to managers and staff across the organization.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- CPA designation completed or actively pursuing designation.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in financial reporting, general accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and accounting systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting deadlines.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional additional hours may be required during month-end and year-end reporting periods.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000– $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
