We are recruiting on behalf of a confidential employer - a busy commercial fish processing and offloading facility on BC's North Coast, located in Port Edward, BC (approximately 15-20 minutes from Prince Rupert). This is a hands-on forklift role at a fast-paced operation. You'll be loading semi trucks, moving fish totes, and supporting dock operations through a season that runs from early spring to early winter. The right candidate is experienced, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in an active industrial environment alongside other workers, heavy equipment, and commercial fishing vessels. Key Responsibilities: - Load and unload semi trucks (4-5 loads per day during busy season) with proper weight distribution - no nose-heavy or tail-heavy loads - Transport fresh and frozen fish totes between the dock and processing areas - Organize the dock to support efficient vessel offloads - Move processing equipment and large commercial fishing boat gear as directed - Retrieve and stage bait orders - Cross CN railway tracks safely while operating with loaded forks - strict safety protocols required - Assist with general dock and plant support as needed - During slower periods (winter): pressure washing, painting, general facility maintenance What We're Looking For: Required: - Valid, current forklift certification (must be obtained prior to hire) - Ability to pass an in-house practical assessment before starting - 1-2 years of forklift operating experience preferred; entry-level candidates considered at the lower end of the pay range - Strong safety awareness in a busy, multi-worker environment - Physical fitness - active, on-your-feet role in all weather conditions - Must currently live in the Prince Rupert / Port Edward area, or be fully prepared to self-relocate with housing secured before your start date Assets: - HIAB crane or high-up crane experience - strong asset, may affect placement and wage - Experience in seafood, fish processing, or dock environments - Comfort with multi-task roles across seasons What's in It for You: - Overtime: Substantial OT available during summer months - 7-day weeks with extended hours when vessels are in - Benefits: Medical and dental after 6-month probationary period for full-time employees - Growth: One of the two positions has potential to transition to permanent, year-round employment - Pay: $20.00-$25.00/hr based on experience and certifications Location Note: Candidates must currently live in the Prince Rupert or Port Edward area, or be fully prepared to relocate on their own.
