Job Summary:
You will be working with the Hardrock Group of Companies' in-house engineering group: Formation Engineering Inc. Your main responsibility in this existing position will be designing formwork solutions for the company's various high-rise residential, commercial and civil projects in the GTA. Unlike a structural engineer who designs the building, our group designs how to BUILD the building.
Job Responsibilities:
You will learn how to design formwork and shoring for concrete slabs, columns, walls and climbing systems with the various forming systems from PERI, ULMA, DOKA and Aluma Systems. In some cases, you will be preparing custom steel fabrication drawings for special formwork designs. Other responsibilities will be to prepare crane location and concrete pump drawings, formwork material lists, sketches, and general support to the engineering department.
Most of the design work is done with AutoCAD and the use of simple structural analysis software. Ninety percent of the work will be at the head office in Bolton, with some visits to the job sites. There are always extra tasks that come up and we are looking for a person who has a flexible attitude and is willing to take on extra responsibility.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. We are looking for a candidate with an interest in construction and structural design. Previous work with a general contractor or construction company would be an asset but not a must. We will be looking for someone with high marks in their structural analysis and design courses. Pay and job responsibility will depend on the candidate's previous work experience and level of education.
Required Education:
The ideal candidate has a post-secondary education, preferably a bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, College Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Architectural/Construction Technology Diploma and/or relevant working experience and knowledge.
Career Development and Training:
Onboarding will be overseen by Hayden Siple, the Engineering Manager. And will be in person to better promote quick learning and understanding of the processes and required knowledge to perform in the position successfully. Initial training includes familiarizing a new employee with our AutoCAD drafting standards, knowledge of formwork systems, and our groups design process and methodology. Formation Engineering is growing and we are always looking for new talent. Working in our engineering department is a great place to start within the Hardrock Group of Companies and learn about the formwork and construction business. Several of our engineers and technologists have moved on to site superintendent and project manager positions. Specific training is given when required.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
