E-Commerce & Social Media Admin Assistant

Salary: C$20–25/hr depending on experience, with potential annual performance bonus
We’re looking for a proactive, social media-friendly assistant to help support a fast-growing home décor e-commerce startup in the GTA.
This is a hands-on, in-person role for someone comfortable wearing multiple hats in a startup environment. You’ll act as the first layer of communication and day-to-day support for the founder while also helping with social media, content creation, admin tasks, and general business operations.
The ideal person is highly familiar with social media platforms and trends, comfortable using Canva independently, organized, adaptable, self-sufficient, and confident both behind and in front of the camera.
Responsibilities may include:
- Social media posting and content research
- Managing comments, reviews, and DMs
- Decent Canva edits and content polishing with minimal guidance
- Assisting with short-form content creation, especially TikTok/Reels-style content
- Helping organize creators/freelancers and local shoots
- Assisting with communication, follow-ups, and day-to-day admin tasks
- Supporting various startup projects as business needs evolve
Some days may involve content shoots at different GTA locations, helping film videos, or assisting with creative projects. Other days may focus more on social media, admin support, or communication tasks.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of social media culture and trends
- Must have some content creation experience
- Comfortable using Canva independently
- Native/fluent English speaker
- Comfortable appearing in selfie/TikTok-style content
- Able to work independently on social posting, DMs/comments, Canva edits, and simple content shoots without needing constant supervision
- Organized, proactive, adaptable, and reliable
- Comfortable handling occasional calls, messages, or follow-ups outside of social media when required
- Must be comfortable occasionally assisting with content shoots at different GTA locations as needed.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment where tasks can change quickly
Nice to Have:
- Experience with product-led, lifestyle, UGC, or e-commerce brands
- A good creative eye for spotting talent, trends, and strong content
- Experience coordinating with freelancers, creators, or shoot talent
- Experience with basic outreach, messaging, and follow-ups
