Recovery Alberta Intensive Outreach and Diversion Services in Medicine Hat is looking for an experienced, skilled, enthusiastic and dynamic team member to fill the position of a Mental Health Therapist. This position will work with individuals with complex addiction and mental health issues and will be responsible for the delivery of a continuum of treatment services within the Outreach program. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment planning and implementation. This person will be required to perform restricted and non-restricted psychosocial interventions utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to persons experiencing significant addiction and/or mental health difficulties as needed. The successful candidate will also assist with coordination of clients on Community Treatment Orders and will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and have a demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, and the ability to create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. This person will have the proven ability to coordinate schedules and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Previous experience in a Community Addiction and Mental Health Setting performing addiction and mental health assessments and provision of psychotherapy required. Relevant training in assessment and treatment of addiction and mental health issues is required. The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of Community Treatment Orders and the Mental Health Act as well as knowledge of the resources within A&MH. Previous experience with clients with complex addiction and mental health issues required. Suicide Intervention training and NVCI required. Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Individual authorization to perform Restricted Psychosocial Intervention. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing with: a. Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, b. Experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in working collaboratively with allied health professionals and demonstrating innovative clinical leadership in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment required. Previous outreach experience preferred. Connect Care experience considered an asset.
