Position Summary
Aburi Market Downtown is looking for a Sushi Line Cook to support daily sushi production while maintaining high standards of quality, freshness, and food safety. This role is ideal for a skilled, detail-oriented sushi cook with a strong foundation in sushi preparation who thrives in a fast-paced environment and works well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sushi items including rolls, basic sashimi, and nigiri according to established standards
- Assist with fish filleting, prep, and portioning
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper food handling at the sushi station
- Monitor product freshness, labeling, and rotation
- Assist with inventory organization and ordering, or learn ordering procedures as required
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Support opening, service, and closing duties at the sushi station
- Lift, move, and organize products and supplies up to 40 lbs
- Stand for extended periods (6–8 hours) during shifts
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of sushi experience
- Experience with rolls, fish filleting, and some sashimi and nigiri preparation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to assist with or learn ordering and inventory processes
- Food Safe certification is an asset
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for 6–8 hours
- BOH experience is preferred
- Must have weekend availability
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
