We are hiring candidates from Southwestern Ontario to work locally and also for a large demolition project in Baie-Comeau, Quebec.
The Equipment Operator plays a critical role in the successful execution of Schouten Excavating Inc. construction and demolition projects. This individual will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment throughout all phases of the project. The Equipment Operator must adhere to all organizational, provincial, and federal regulations, with a strong commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards on site.
Job Duties
· Operate a variety of heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, skid steers, and other machinery) in a safe and efficient manner.
· Perform work in accordance with all organizational, provincial, and federal health and safety standards and legislation.
· Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
· Participate in daily site assessments, including identification of potential hazards.
· Execute demolition activities using heavy equipment, including structural teardown, material handling, preparing of scrap and site cleaning.
· Work closely with ground crew, providing coordination and communication to ensure safe operations.
· Follow grade specifications, plans, and site instructions accurately.
· Assist with loading, sorting, and handling of demolished materials.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas.
· Support general site operations and provide assistance to crew members as required.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure project efficiency and safety.
Work Conditions
· Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Physically demanding environment with long hours and rotational shifts.
· Travel and accommodation required for out-of-town projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
