As a Sourcing and Contracting Specialist (End-to-End), you will lead the strategy and management of supplier contracts for Canadian Natural’s operations and projects. You will partner with stakeholders, suppliers, and legal teams to deliver optimized sourcing strategies, secure favorable terms, ensure compliance, and manage risk while driving cost efficiency. Key Accountabilities:
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives to secure goods and services at optimal value, manage risk, and align outcomes with business objectives through strong cross-functional collaboration
- Anticipate business needs by clarifying requirements early, challenging assumptions and the status quo, and delivering high-quality, end-to-end sourcing solutions through effective stakeholder management
- Represent Canadian Natural as a trusted commercial partner in all supplier and stakeholder engagements, strengthening relationships and upholding the company’s reputation and values
- Leverage data-driven analysis and market intelligence (supply/demand, supplier capabilities, total cost of ownership) to generate strategic insights, identify value opportunities, and support informed decision-making
- Develop high-quality, executive-level communications that distill complex commercial, legal, and operational information into clear insight and strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Lead the end-to-end contract formation and administration process, delivering clear, fit-for-purpose agreements that maximize value, mitigate risk, and align with organizational objectives and standards
- Drive supplier and contractor relationship management, ensuring performance and compliance, resolving complex claims and commercial disputes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to protect organization value and operational integrity
What You Bring to the Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, law, or a related field from a recognized university
- Minimum of 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in sourcing and contracting experience within the energy sector or a related industry
- Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts up to $50 MM, with strong knowledge of contract law and industry regulations applicable to the Canadian energy market
- Bold, entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to challenge the status quo, identify opportunities, and drive innovative, value-focused sourcing solutions
- Ability to analyze macroeconomic market trends, including commodity price volatility, inflation, currency fluctuations, and supplier financial health, and translate insights into strategic, value-driven actions
- Experience managing Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program, establishing KPIs, driving performance, identifying continuous improvement initiatives, and unlocking value opportunities
- Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are considered an asset
